Upon further analysis, it is determined that the MIL is caused by Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1740 - Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) or overdrive solenoid Performance. The customer may complain of a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 46RE TRANSMISSION BUILT BEFORE AUG(MDH O8O1XX). OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves the replacement of the transmission pressure boost valve cover plate. SUBJECT: 46RE Transmission MIL Due To DTC P1740 - TCC or OD Solenoid Performance Testing: Check torque converter solenoid for proper operation. Blocking action: This code can block the following monitors: none. When the PCM commanded the torque converter to lock, no change was detected in engine speed.
Enabling conditions: No engine or transmissions codes are present, vehicle speed was under 70 MPH, TPS was under 33% open. Code P1740-Torque converter clutch did not lock up when the PCM sent the command.
